1. Principle of hand lay-up method
The hand lay-up process, also known as contact molding, is the earliest and most widely used molding method in the production of resin-based composite materials. The hand lay-up process is based on a resin mixture with a curing agent as a matrix, glass fiber and its fabric as a reinforcing material, and is manually laid on a mold coated with a release agent to bond the two together. A process method for manufacturing glass fiber reinforced plastic products. The matrix resin is usually unsaturated polyester resin or epoxy resin, and the reinforcing material is usually alkali-free or medium-alkali glass fiber and its fabric. In the hand lay-up process, less mechanical equipment is used, and it is suitable for the production of multi-variety and small-batch products, and is not limited by the type and shape of the products.
2. The molding process
The process of the hand lay-up molding process is: first apply a mold release agent on the cleaned or surface-treated mold molding surface, and after it is fully dried, add a curing agent (initiator), accelerator, pigment paste and other additives And stir the gel coat or resin mixture evenly, brush it on the molding surface of the mold, and then lay the cut glass cloth (felt) and other reinforcing materials on it, and pay attention to saturating the resin and removing air bubbles. Repeat the above layup operation until the design thickness is reached, and then proceed to curing and demoulding.
3. Forming equipment
The hand lay-up process uses less equipment. The equipment for making models includes woodworking lathes, woodworking planers, and woodworking circular saws; air compressors and hoisting equipment are generally used for demoulding.
